Overview
Rocket Ascent is the quiet, long-loop game in Skywar. Pick a destination from the Moon to the Sun, pick a rocket, launch, and tune fuel curves, RCS thrusters and shielding to survive. Coins drop from obstacles; coins fund upgrades; upgrades unlock heavier rockets.
Ten destinations form the mission tree: Moon (100km, $50k), Mars, Venus, Mercury, Uranus, Neptune, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto, and the Sun (100,000,000km, $150M). Each gates the next. The Sun also requires Thermal Coating — without it, your hull burns up.
Five rockets unlock through the campaign: Mk1 Explorer (start), Titan Heavy (post-Moon), Nova Cruiser (post-Venus), Solaris Prime (post-Neptune) and Helios Vanguard (post-Pluto). Fuel multiplier climbs from 1× to 150×; thrust multiplier from 1× to 500×.
How to play
- Pick a mission you have unlocked.
- Choose your best rocket and current upgrades.
- Launch. Hold thrust on the way up; use RCS to dodge obstacles.
- Collect coins, survive, land or burn through to your target distance.
Controls
Upgrade priorities
Nineteen upgrade lines but only a few matter early: Fuel Tank, Liquid Fuel (efficiency), Main Engine, Aero Nose Cone (drag), and Stabilizer Wings. RCS Thrusters and Solid Boosters open up after the Moon. Coin Magnet and Gold Plating are economy multipliers. Plasma Engine and Warp Drive are the late-game unlocks.
The Sun special case
The Sun mission requires the Thermal Coating upgrade (up to 10 levels). Without it, your hull starts burning at extreme proximity and you fail before reaching the target. Stack thermal levels before attempting.
Tips & strategy
- Liquid Fuel (burn efficiency) compounds with Fuel Tank — buy them together, not one at a time.
- Aero Nose Cone is a hidden top performer; drag reduction stacks across the whole flight.
- Hull Shield can absorb a fatal obstacle hit — buy at least 1 level before risking longer runs.
- The Warp Drive (final tier, 5000 base cost) effectively rescues your worst runs by skipping space.
