FAQ

Skywar — frequently asked questions.

Quick answers about playing the 3-game arcade, saves, devices and ads. For per-game questions, every game page has its own FAQ.

About the site

What is Skywar.io?
Skywar is a curated arcade of 3 hand-tuned browser combat games — air, ground, naval, stealth and strategy. Every game runs entirely in your browser using HTML5 canvas. There is nothing to install and no plugins to enable. You can browse the full list on the Games page.
Do I need to sign up to play?
No. Skywar does not run a login system. You can open any game and play immediately. We never ask for your name, email or phone number to play.
Is Skywar really free?
Yes — every game on the site is free to play. We do not gate gameplay behind payment. Optional ads on menu and lobby screens help cover hosting and development costs.
Who is Skywar for?
Anyone who enjoys arcade-style combat games and wants short, instant-load sessions. Every game is single-player and fictional — there are no real-world militaries, conflicts or events depicted.

Saves, accounts, devices

Where is my progress saved?
Locally in your browser via localStorage. Saved games are tied to this browser profile on this device. Clearing site data, using a different browser, switching devices, or playing in private/incognito mode all start a fresh save.
Why did my progress disappear?
Either site data was cleared (browser settings, cleaner extension, OS storage reset), or you opened the site in a different browser or in private mode. There is no server-side account to recover.
Can I sync saves between phone and laptop?
Not today. Skywar has no sign-in, so saves stay on the device that made them. We may add an optional opt-in sync in the future; we have no estimated date.
Is my saved library private?
Yes — the ♥ library on each game card is stored only in your browser. We do not see it.

The games

Are any of the games online multiplayer?
No — all three Skywar games are single-player against AI. There is no matchmaking, chat, or shared world state.
Why does each game look different?
Each title is its own hand-tuned project with its own physics, AI, audio and progression. War Room is a strategic strike simulator with aircraft and launcher modes. Fighter Ops is a 2D jet sandbox with a hangar upgrade tree. Rocket Ascent is a vertical space-flight sim with a solar-system mission ladder. They share this website but not a common game engine template.
Are the named airframes, ships and missiles real?
Some names are inspired by real-world designations (F-16, Spitfire, AH-64 Apache, Tomahawk, ICBM). All performance values, behaviors, scenarios and damage models are tuned for arcade play, not simulation. None of the content represents real militaries, governments or programs.
Is there a story or campaign?
War Room has a 30+ mission campaign with unlockable aircraft, missiles and launchers. Fighter Ops runs level-based sorties (levels 1–20) with hangar progression. Rocket Ascent uses a destination ladder from the Moon to the Sun with rocket and upgrade unlocks.

Browsers, devices, performance

What browsers does Skywar support?
Any modern browser with HTML5 canvas and JavaScript enabled — Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Brave, Opera. Internet Explorer is not supported.
Does Skywar work on mobile?
Yes. Touch controls appear automatically on phones and tablets. War Room, Fighter Ops and Rocket Ascent all support mobile play — Fighter Ops and War Room work best in landscape orientation on smaller screens.
Why is one of the games stuttering on my phone?
Large maps (Fighter Ops, War Room city grids) push more pixels than a short session game. Close other tabs, use landscape mode, and lower screen brightness. Rocket Ascent is usually the lightest of the three on older phones.
Do I need to update anything?
No. Games are loaded on demand each time you visit. Refresh the page to grab the latest version.

Ads, privacy, kids

Why do I see ads?
Ads help cover hosting and development. They appear on text-heavy pages such as game guides and blog posts — not overlaid on live gameplay during a sortie or launch. We use Google AdSense; you can read more on the Privacy page.
Can my child play these games?
Skywar games are arcade-style combat fantasy. They depict fictional aircraft and weapons in non-graphic ways, but parents should make their own call based on their child. There is no chat, no user-generated content, and no sign-up — the surface area is small.
Do you share data with anyone?
We do not collect personal data ourselves — there are no accounts. Standard internet infrastructure (hosting, CDN, analytics) and the Google AdSense ad network may process technical information. Full details on the Privacy page.
How do I block ads if I prefer not to see them?
Use any standard ad-block browser extension. Gameplay still works exactly the same.
